Kedarkantha trek is located in Uttrakhand, starts from Sankri village, The trek is most popular during winters and is known as one of the best snow trek.

Itinerary

Arrival at Dehradun Railway station, Pickup by car/Tempo (depending upon the group size), Today after arrival, leave for Sankri village (8 hours) drive from Dehradun.
The drive from Dehradun to Sankri is an enchanting drive of 8 hours stretching over 200 Km ride via Mussoorie, Naugaon, Purola, Mori, and Naitwar. You will see beautiful valleys and forests throughout your journey.
After reaching Sankri check-in to the cottages, In the evening explore this beautiful small village. Overnight stay in the cottages after Dinner.

Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (6 kms)

Today after early breakfast we will pack our bags and finally get ready to trek the most awaited trek Kedarkantha, After early breakfast get ready to trek towards Juda Ka Talab which is just 4km from Sankri. Usually 5 hour is the maximum time to reach Juda Ka Talab. Right after reaching the campsite you will be served with lunch, Later enjoy the snow covered views, Take dinner early and sleep inside the tents under the billions of stars.

Juda ka Talab to Base camp

Right after breakfast start moving towards the Base camp of Kedarkantha trek which is just 4km from Juda ka Talab and usually takes around 3 hours to reach, At this point one can get clearer views of snowcapped mountains like Bandarpooch, swargrohini and Kala Nag.

Enjoy the best views and take lunch, Tonight sleep early after dinner for the next day.

Base Camp – Juda ka Talab – Sankri (6 Km Trek )

Today wake up early and start the trek at 4:00 am in order to conquer Kedarkantha Summit. The total trek from Base camp to summit and back to Juda ka Talab is only 7km which takes around 7-8  hours depending upon the walkin speed on an individual.
It is advisable to reach the summit by 10:00 am, Enjoy the spectacular and panormic views of the Himalayas spend some time here and later trek back to Juda Ka Talab for overnight stay. Take dinner and sleep inside the tent.

Take breakfast and right after breakfast start descending towards Sankri 4km 2 hours.
Spend some time at Sankri and by 12:00 board your cabs for Dehradun.

Kedakantha summit trek is one of the best-known winter treks. It stands at an elevation of 12,500 feet above the sea level. It is located in the Uttarkashi District of Uttrakhand Also, Its an easy to moderate trek, best for beginners. The climb starts from a small village known as Sankri. There are a total of 13 peaks visible for the kedarkantha peak including bandar poonch, swargarohini, kaalnaag, Har kin dun, and yamunotri ranges. It is said that Earlier Kedarnath temple has to be built at this place but due to some reasons the construction of the temple was aborted so the temple was only built till shiva’s neck and the that is why it is popularly known as kedarkantha.
Kedar means Shiva Kantha means Neck.
